Ep53: 2021 Season Finale, Coach Checketts, Regional Highlights

The 2021 Gaucho Baseball season has come to a close, UCSB finishes off their tremendous campaign going 41-20 (29-11 BigWest) and plays in their 5th Regional in the past 8 seasons.  We catch up with Head Coach Andrew Checketts about the adjustments made down the stretch leading to the Regional as well as the return of summer recruiting.  Then we conclude the podcast with a solo recap from the host reviewing the season's top performances and overall accomplishments. Ep52: Gauchos heading to Tucson Regional, Assoc. HC Matt Fonteno, Bakersfield recap

The Gauchos are heading to their 5th regional in the last 8 seasons after finishing the 2021 regular season with a 39-18 record (29-11 BigWest) and being selected as the 3-seed in the Tucson Regional.  Associate Head Coach Matt Fonteno joins us to discuss regional preparation and welcoming back Marcos Castanon and McClain O'Connor to the lineup, then UCSB Analytics passes out weekend awards and preview Friday's opponent Oklahoma St.

Ep51: Gauchos Sweep UCR, Kyle Johnson, Jason Willow, Vol. Asst. Spencer Erdman

UCSB sweeps 4 games from UCR over the weekend improving to 35-18 overall, 25-11 in BigWest play.  Highlight package includes mutiple extra base hits, stellar infield play, and strong pitching.  Our interviews this week are with 1b Kyle Johnson (6:30), Volunteer Assistant Coach Spencer Erdman (14:10), and UTIL Jason Willow (22:35).  Then UCSB Analytics sits down for weekly awards (29:42).

Ep50: UCLA Recap + McGreevy, Eng, Callahan, Lewis chatter

Gauchos get some valuable RPI points over the weekend in the series vs UCLA but lose 2 of 3 games; with 8 games remaining in the regular season UCSB sits at 31-18 overall.  We begin with highlights and interviews with JD Callahan, Cory Lewis, Mason Eng, & Michael McGreevy. Then David Tillotson and Spencer Stewart pass out awards, plus the UCSB pitching staff sets a new school record with 510 strikeouts, surpassing the 2019 staff mark of 507.

Ep49 Coach Checketts & UC Irvine Recap

UCSB wins a thriller on Friday day vs UC Irvine but falls in the series, Gauchos sit in second place in the BigWest 30-16 (21-11) - Today we sit down with Coach Checketts to review the weekend, discuss the upcoming UCLA series and having family and friends back in the stands.  The UCSB Analytics come on to pass out awards and we review the 19 former Gauchos playing in Minor League Baseball.

Ep48: John Newman, JD Callahan, Gauchos take 3 of 4 from rival Cal Poly

Gauchos win the series vs their rivals from San Luis Obispo and improve to 29-13 (20-8 BigWest) heading into the big weekend against UC Irvine.  On this weeks pod we have weekend highlights and we had a chance to talk to John Newman about his walk-off single vs CP and his big plays against Long Beach.  Then JD Callahan talks about his great start on Sunday helping to lead the Gauchos to the series win.  Plus UCSB Analytics stops by to pass out weekend awards and preview the series with the Anteaters.
