Ep80: 2022 Recap Part 2 with Coach Checketts

We are joined by Head Coach Andrew Checketts to recap another historical season for UCSB Baseball.  We discuss how the Gauchos arrived at their 2nd BigWest Championship in the last 3 seasons.  UCSB won 40+ games for the 3rd season in a row, broke the single season team home run and saves records, and set a program record with 14 All-Conference selections.  Another outstanding season of Gaucho baseball is in the books, thank you for all of your support!

Ep79: 2022 Recap Part1: Stanford Regional w/Coach Checketts

In part 1 of our 2022 season recap we talk to Coach Checketts about the Stanford Regional, top Gaucho performances, and the emotional finish to the season.  UCSB went 1-2 in the regional, losing to Texas St. in the opener, eliminating Binghamton, then being eliminated by Stanford on Sunday. Nick Vogt was named to the All-Regional Team after batting .308 and belting 2 homers while making outstanding plays in CF.  Part 2 will be released next week!

Ep78: Gauchos are Stanford Regional Bound! Bob Brontsema & Donegal Fergus

UCSB is heading to Palo Alto and the Stanford Regional and will face Texas St. on Friday night.  We have playoff fever so we have a LOADED podcast this week starting with Bakersfield highlights and weekend interviews with Mason Eng, the 'closers', and Gaucho Analytics.  We talk to former Gaucho player and head coach Bob Brontsema (35:01) about the UCSB regionals in the 80's, 90's, and 00's plus some 2022 bracket predictions.  Then we wrap up with Associate Head Coach Donegal Fergus (1:14:04) discussing the mold of the 2022 team and a Stanford Regional preview.

Ep77: BigWest Champs! Andrew Checketts & Gerry Fall

The Gauchos clinch the 2022 BigWest title on Saturday and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.  We are joined by Head Coach Andrew Checketts and the voice of the Gauchos Gerry Fall who both reflect on the exciting weekend and season as a whole.  UCSB walks-off on Friday, clinches the title Saturday, and enjoyed a fun Senior Day on Sunday.  One more week to go in the regular season before the selection show on Monday at 9a on ESPNU.

Ep76: Coach Spencer Erdman, Aaron Parker, Gauchos defeat UC Irvine

UCSB comes away with another series win on the road as they take 2 of 3 from UC Irvine and their magic number to win the BigWest sits at 2.  This week's podcast features a pregame interview with Friday's hero, Fr. Aaron Parker as well as a visit from Volunteer Asst. Coach Spencer Erdman who breaks down so big moments from the weekend and dives into the many elements of coaching college infielders.

Ep75: Gauchos Sweep CP, Coach Checketts, Gianni Bloom, Matt Ager, Nick Oakley

Huge weekend in San Luis Obispo as UCSB sweeps Cal Poly for the first time since 1998 to take a commanding 6-game lead in the BigWest Conference.  This week we have game highlights plus player interviews with Gianni Bloom, Matt Ager, and Nick Oakley (15:30) and a breakdown of the weekend with Head Coach Andrew Checketts (37:01) - Blake Klassen wins BigWest Field Player of the Week.

Ep74: Veterans Christian Kirtley, Bryce Willits & Jason Willow, Gauchos sweep Long Beach

Loaded podcast! I missed Justin Trimble's home run on Tuesday vs UCLA because of a sprinkler malfunction so I had to ask him about his at bat (5:50).  Then we welcome on a trio of veteran Gauchos (20:15) who have all played in over 120 division 1 games, Christian Kirtley, Bryce Willits & Jason Willow who discuss the progress of the season as we look forward to the Cal Poly series next weekend.  Plus UCLA & Long Beach St. highlights!

Ep73: Asst. Coach Dylan Jones

This week we are joined by Assistant Coach Dylan Jones to talk about the success of the Gaucho pitching staff this year who lead the BigWest with a 3.76 team ERA.  We break down the importance of roles and how to stay level headed throughout the course of the season.  UCSB has won 6 games in a row after sweeping UC San Diego and remains in 1st place in the BigWest at 13-2 with a big week coming up with home games vs UCLA and Long Beach St.

Ep72: UCSB Sweeps CSUN, Bryce Willits, Coach Ferg & Social Media Team

The Gauchos completed the sweep of CSUN on the road over the weekend and go 3-1 in week 8 improving to 21-8 (10-2 BigWest).  Fr RHP Ryan Gallagher was named BigWest Pitcher of the Week and 3b Bryce Willits had a career game on Friday belting 2 homers and driving in 7 runs.  This week we had a chat with 2 of the students behind all of the great social media content, Brandi Shin & Patrick Molin; plus Coach Ferg and Bryce Willits.

Ep71: Coach Ferg & Ryan Gallagher, Gauchos win series vs Hawaii

Week 7 is in the books, Gauchos split the week after taking 2 games from Hawaii over the weekend and remain in first place in the BigWest Conference at 7-2.  Associate Head Coach Donegal Fergus is our guest as we recap a wild weekend and discuss the progress of the Gauchos over their first 25 games.  We have game highlights plus a pre-game interview with Ryan Gallagher from last Tuesday's game @ UCLA.
